239. Do Chicken And Fish Go Together? – by Monty

Today I led an outdoor excursion to the lake. My intention was simply to verify its continued existence and then to get straight back in the car for safety. I had no desire to walk all the way around it. I had no desire to walk a hundred yards. A noise could have occurred at any moment.

Recognising my decision, The Fairy decided to let Chicken off the lead to run up and down so she could get some exercise. Chicken has separation anxiety so always comes back. Like a boomerang. Separation anxiety she may have; brains she does not.

Chicken ran around a bit and then launched herself straight into the lake. She flew about five yards, overshot the shallows and sank like a stone. The Fairy was about to go in after her, when Chicken resurfaced and actually managed to swim ashore. She thought it was hilarious. I thought it was the most reckless thing she has done so far. Β Which I told her. Repeatedly.

On the plus side, we had to go back home straight away because Chicken was cold.

Chicken and fish do NOT go together.

  1. OMGoodness, C. That is the craziest story ever! I’m so happy you popped back up from the fishy deep. There’s a saying, “Look before you leap.” You should look into it!

    • Look before you leap? It means nothing. Chicken just does things. No looking or thinking or asking or assessing. It’s a difficult job trying to protect her from herself.

Silly Chicken! Sasha has been eyeing up the new pond all day here. Stubby agrees with Monty – He looked and went straight back in to the sofa.

    • Not only does Stubby have one of the best names I’ve ever heard, he is also very intelligent. We are of one mind, Stubby.

  4. I took Stub’s out to search for a dog that went missing in a local park, we walked some distance so on the way back we went to the fishing lake to get a quick drink.
Stubby walked straight off the jetty (whilst on the lead) into what I had first assumed was water but turned out to be a 40/60 mix of duck poo and water.
    The dog was found later.

    • Firstly, I’m glad the lost dog was found. Secondly, with regards to the duck poo/water swimming incident … πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
      And also, πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
